#TheReadingQuest Sign-Up & TBR

reading quest

Even though I’m already doing multiple reading challenges this month, I thought it would be fun to push myself even further and add yet another one to the mix. If you haven’t yet heard, #TheReadingQuest is a video-game themed reading challenge hosted by Aentee @ Read at Midnight between August 13th and September 10th! I don’t want to regurgitate everything that’s already out there, so if you’re interested in participating make sure to check out the sign-up post for all the details.

The challenge is similar to a bookish bingo (which I’ve never done before!) where you aim to read as many books as possible that correlate to the prompts on the board. However, the rules of #TheReadingQuest require you to choose one of four characters whose path you must first complete before embarking on another journey. (How cool is that?)

I’ve chosen to begin as the Knight, with the Mage as my back-up if I manage to complete my first quest! But, choosing your character is just the beginning. You can also create your own character card, with custom skin tones! (As if it couldn’t get any cooler!) All of the character art was created by the talented CW @ Read, Think, Ponder, and the resources for creating yours can be found in the sign-up post.

As well as the Knight’s quest, I’m doing three of the side quests to help conquer my #ARCAugust TBR! I’ve also made a spreadsheet to keep track of my books, experience points and health points, which is probably my favourite part of this entire thing.

MY TBR

THE KNIGHT

The first book of a series: Wonder Woman Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo

A book with a verb in its title: We See Everything by William Sutcliffe

A book with a weapon on its cover: Throne Of Glass by S. J. Mass

A book with a red cover: False Hearts by Laura Lam

A book that has an adaptation: Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

THE MAGE

A book with a one word title: Tinder by Sally Gardner

A book that contains magic: A Jigsaw Of Fire And Stars by Yaba Badoe

A book based on mythology: The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi

A book set in a different world: Soulprint by Megan Miranda

SIDE QUESTS

Multiplayer: There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins

Open World: Home Fire by Kamila Shamsie

Expansion: The Bone Knife by Intisar Khanani

I think that’s everything I wanted to include! Are you participating in #TheReadingQuest, or any other reading challenges this month? Which path(s) are you taking? How will you track your points?

    • I read the synopsis so long ago that I forgot they were conjoined 😄 One by Sarah Crossan is a novel about conjoined twins written in verse!

      Thank you!

  1. Your TBR is awesome – everyone seems to have everything all planned out for other paths and sidequests and I’m just like ‘I have my mage books and nothing else’. I feel unprepared haha

I have the ARC for There’s Someone Inside Your Home by Stephenie Perkins and I’m so excited to actually read it! I hope you enjoy it!

As for tracking my points, I’m planning on doing weekly updates where I comply my weekly progress and then do a post at the end of the challenge for overall progress!

Good luck on your challenge! 🙂

    • Thank you! You can always decide on books for the other prompts as you go along?

That sounds like a good way to track points! I’m hoping to do frequent updates on Twitter, both to keep track and to gain my social media health points. And then a wrap-up blog post, of course. 😄

      Good luck to you too!

      • I was thinking of posting other mini TBRs if I manage all my Mage ones!

Twitter is always a good place – especially because of the social media health points!

        😀

  2. I’d love to participate but I’m moving soon and it’s just too much. Your avatar is so cute and I can’t wait to see how you do on your quest!

I’m excited to see how you like The Star-Touched Queen and The Bone Knife. Both amazing books and written by authors whose styles I enjoy a lot!

    • I actually had trouble with that too! But I tweeted about it and a friend of mine offered to make it for me so you could try that? (If you’re on Twitter, that is) 😊

  3. I LOVE this read a thon!! I wish I had time to do it (*sobs*). But it looks like you have some amazing books lined up!! And Throne of Glass!!!!! I’m in the middle of the series right now and IT IS SO GOOD I DON’T KNOW WHY I WAITED SO LONG TO START THIS!!!!!

      • I would probably do the Knight or the Mage…. or try to do them all and fail miserably!
I was scared to try Throne of Glass too, because usually overhyped books let me down… but the first two were 5 star reads and the 3rd is heading toward 5 stars as well!! I can’t wait to see what you think of them though!

      • I also started the Throne of Glass series late, mostly because I didn’t care for the first book much. The second book is sooo much better though, so it’s definitely worth going that far before deciding!
